Celebrating its role as a cultural ambassador, American Ballet
Theatre launched the International Council in the Spring of 2010
with a mission to raise the profile of classical dance and support
dance’s unique ability to promote dialogue and cultural exchange.
The Council seeks to leverage the power of dance to underscore our
common humanity and inspire future generations.
Beginning in the UK, the Council’s inaugural activities are
centered around American Ballet Theatre’s tour to London in
early 2011 and an exchange between the Royal Ballet School and the
ABT Studio Company. This model underscores the Company’s commitment
to bringing important works, and an international roster of extraordinary
dancers, to audiences around the globe.
