DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP

General Description:
Directs all aspects of ABT Dancers’ Circle ($75-$999) and Golden Circle ($1,000-$9,999) membership programs. Develops and manages each program with a primary focus on raising annual operating support from individual donors. Maintains effective relations with the donor community including the Junior Council Strategic Planning Committee and the Golden Circle Council, a donor advisory committee enlisted to promote Dancers’ Circle and Golden Circle membership.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Conceives and executes annual strategy of Dancers’ Circle, Golden Circle, and Junior Council cultivation, benefit fulfillment, and events.
  • Produces and oversees all Golden Circle and Dancers’ Circle appeals and acknowledgement letters.
  • Sets strategy for the Junior Council Strategic Planning Committee and executes annual appeal and events calendar for the Junior Council.
  • Directs Golden Circle Council outreach and prospecting activities, attends all Council meetings, and forms meeting agendas and objectives.
  • Conceives and executes annual Golden Circle Luncheon and rehearsal, identifies event leadership and honorees, and secures underwriting sponsorship.
  • Oversees annual acknowledgement letters for all Dancers’ Circle and Golden Circle appeals.
  • Assists in identifying and cultivating prospects for ABTPartners and Chairman’s Council.
  • Assists in identifying and cultivating prospects for special gifts and initiatives.
  • Seeks out prospective annual donors from a variety of constituencies .
  • Produces and revises annual expense budgets and income goals.
  • Periodically reviews and revises membership benefit structures.
  • Oversees all telefundraising campaigns, including lead distribution scheduling and incentive tracking.
  • Serves as primary contact with contracted telefundraising vendor.
  • Represents ABT at performances in NY and in tour cities.
  • Manages all activities and staff of the members’ lounge at The Metropolitan Opera House, BAM, NY City Center, and tour cities when appropriate.
  • Participates in other department-wide activities such as fundraising and cultivation events.
  • Manages staff and areas of responsibility of membership department which includes: Coordinator of Member Events, Membership Associate, Patron Ticketing Associate, and department interns.
 
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree and seven to ten years of progressive development experience is required (preferably in a performing arts or other cultural setting). Must have a thorough knowledge of general fundraising principles, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively manage administrative staff. Must be creative, energetic and attentive to detail. Must be willing to travel, and work evening and weekend hours. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Raiser’s Edge required.

TELEFUNDING REPRESENTATIVE

General Description:
We looking for part-time representatives to work with our telefundraising vendor for American Ballet Theatre’s spring fundraising campaign. We're looking for reliable, articulate representatives to generate support for ABT's membership programs. Applicants must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours/week. Evening and weekend shifts available. Flexible scheduling, friendly work environment and the opportunity to help support America’s National Ballet Company®. Hourly base pay plus commission.
 
Position Qualifications:
Telephone skills and light computer skills are necessary. Sales or fundraising experience, knowledge of classical ballet, and/or appreciation for the arts is a plus.

NEW YORK SUMMER INTENSIVE COUNSELOR

General Description:
The Summer Intensive Counselor will assist with all artistic and administrative aspects of American Ballet Theatre’s New York City Summer Intensive Program from June 25 – July 27, 2012. This position works closely with the Summer Intensive Directors, faculty, students and ABT administrative staff.
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with a group of 30-35 students attending the New York Summer Intensive to monitor behavior, attendance and general well being of the students.
  • Assist Summer Intensive staff with planning and daily activities of New York City Summer Intensive such as schedules, faculty changes, rehearsals, studio showings, data entry, daily attendance, health of students, etc.
  • Communicate with parents, students, and faculty regarding Summer Intensive schedules, student attendance and final performance information.
  • Act as an on-site chaperone to report any physical or psychological issues or problems that arise with the student body.
  • Monitors dancers’ conduct and behavior and reports any problems or concerns to the Summer Intensive Coordinator.
  • Chaperone students on the subway to the ABT Summer Intensive final performance and work closely with Production staff to ensure a smooth dress rehearsal and performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Qualifications:
Seeking college dance and arts administration students. Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work productively with artists. Experience interacting with students and parents. Ability to manage multiple activities in a pressured environment. Must be at least a sophomore in college. Computer literacy is a must, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of dance and performing arts is a requirement. Due to a high percentage of international students, proficiency in multiple languages, specifically Japanese, is a plus.
